BURRITOS
BY JAMES PARRY

What is life without a delicious burrito?
it becomes bland, dull, and less bonito.
My desire for beans and cheese knows no bounds,
and while fulfilling my cravings, I gain a few pounds.
But crunch, crunch, crunch is a welcoming sound,
I can sense it from miles like a burrito bloodhound.

I know burritos in each and every fold,
I know burritos that are warm and cold.
I know burritos filled with various meats,
I know burritos with some spice and heat
I’ve never known a burrito that has left me unsatisfied,
Even the chimichangas which are boldly deep fried
.
An abundance of beans is key for burritos of all kinds,
anyone who slights me should be subject to fines.
Adding a smidgen of freshly-squeezed lime,
is a key bean ingredient that always tastes so fine.
Anything damp, cool, or lacking in beans,
won’t be up to my standards by any means.

I do not associate with fajitas or tostadas,
the only choice is burritos or nada.
A veggie burrito is the most repulsive food in existence,
I would never eat that no matter the insistence.
Tacos are sometimes acceptable I suppose,
but I would never use them to fill my burrito woes.

My drink of choice is a tangerine Jarrito,
it is the only way to go when enjoying my burrito.
Orchata is the least refreshing beverage of all,
mixing milk and rice only appalls.
But the drink that perfectly complements my burrito cravings,
is the lime flavored Jarritos that always have me raving.

My burrito yearnings can always be met,
by a crispy tortilla that is dry or wet.
The red salsa cascades over my warm burrito,
I feel at peace as I indulge in my warm burrito.
But alas, I sit at the table and as I begin to chow down,
I notice not the beans, but the meat has overturned my frown.
