Some people say Iphones are good, some say they are a distraction, some people say they are a privacy issue. The Iphone has been bought by millions of people all across the world. Iphones have the their benefits, but they also have their negatives.

   The latest accessory to the Iphone 5 is the fingerprint scanner. It’s a big privacy issue, mainly because if hackers are able to obtain a fingerprint they can impersonate that individual. The fingerprint scanner is an unnecessary attachment. It’s pretty much useless, Apple just needed to add something new because they were practically manufacturing the same phone for the past couple of years. Millions of people have the lastest model of the Iphone, so millions of people’s thumbprints are vulnerable for hackers to get. News reporter Franklin wrote, “Let me put it this way: if hackers get a hold of your thumbprint they could use it to identify and impersonate you for the rest of your life.” Imagine the things hackers can do with a fingerprint. They will impersonate that person, they will have that identity. The fingerprint is a human beings identity it is what defines us. CIA could find where someone lives, and find out who any person is are with a print. Do you really want your identity in the hands of a hacker? Apple says that your fingerprint is safe, but is it really? Experts say that Iphones are said to be vulnerable to hackers.

   Apple was scrambling to release an update patching the security issue on February 24, 2014. This security problem would allow hackers to intercept millions of people’s email and password. If hackers are able to hack into an email account they can send emails containing computer viruses. Hackers are a crafty people if they could hack the Iphones once, they will find a way to do it once more. Hackers already are able to hack into your Iphone and be able to gather your; credit card numbers, your personal information, and much more. If hackers were able to hack into the phone to get a simple thing such as an email address do you think that they will not be able to get you fingerprint? Security issues are a huge con for the Iphone. Your Iphone could contain all of your personal data, like Itunes accounts, bank accounts, credit card numbers. There was a hacker that had the possession of more than twelve million apple ID’s of Iphones, Ipods, and Ipads. The hackers released more than a million of these ID’s publicly. Hacker’s also claim that they can hack an Iphone through an rigged charger. The charger looks like a normal Iphone charger, but what it really does is download all of your information onto the device. If I phones can’t be protected from email hackers, and fake chargers they are not ready to hold such data like the thumbprint. Your Iphone is meant to be private, and not in the hands of a hacker.

   The Iphone has many cons, but it also carries many benefits. One of the biggest benefit is it’s telecommunication. It’s good for when you’re lost, when you want to call family that live far away, keeping in contact with your parents, and it is good for when you get into an emergency and need to call the ambulance or the police. For me, the Iphone is very useful because I go to school an hour away, and I need to keep in contact with mom in order to get a ride home. I can also contact friends if I want to hang out, or I can even ask for homework. If you get hurt, or get into a car wreck, and if you do not have a cell phone you can’t call for help, but if you have an Iphone you can easily contact anyone for help. There has been many times where a person has gotten hurt, and they used their Iphones to call for help. Telecommunication is arguably the best thing that has ever been made. This is only one of the many benefits that the Iphone offers.

   Another benefit of the Iphone is it’s App Store. There are many useful apps in the App Store. There was a man who was in a building during the Haiti earthquake. He was bleeding excessively, but he brought up an app called Pocket First Aid and CPR. This man claimed that this app saved his live. It told him how to treat his wounds, and take care of his compound fracture. The victim said “I knew I wasn't making any mistakes, that gave me confidence to treat my wounds properly”. There was a hiker who was lost, and used his phone to save his life. The man said he packed extra food, his cell phone, and a map. The man was lost for several hours, and he called 911. They told him to stay where he was at. He ended up using his flashlight app as a beacon so that the rescuers could find him.

   Iphones are a great invention and have many benefits along with negatives. One of the main issues is it’s security. Other than that I believe the I phone is a great tool, and everyone should have one.
