Q. How long have you been teaching at Cardinal Newman?
A. This will be the end of my 21st year at Newman. I will have taught 33 years total
including my time at Justin Sienna.
Q. Did you play sports in college?
A. I played Quarter-back in football at the J.C. and went to the State Championship.
I was also an All Conference basketball player.
Q. What have been the highest moments of your coaching carreer so far?
A. The first game my team won was the 87-59 win over Marin Catholic in 1981
and in 1989, winning the Norcal championship. Also my five-hundredth win
while I was at Justin Sienna. Only thirty-six people have ever won more than
five-hundred games.
Q. What was thre happiest day of your life?
A. My happiest day was coming back to Cardinal Newman. That was
in God's time. Cardinal Newman is where I have decided to be.
Q. What is the best part of the job?
A. The kids! That is the greatest joy of teaching, watching the kids
become good members of the community.
Q. What changes do you hope to see at Cardinal Newmamn in the
next year?
A. There have been a lot of capital campaign changes. The buildings
have been a great improvement. Mr.Truesdell deserves much of
the credit for that. The weight-room, the A.C.C. building, the
base-ball field and the new court floor. In the future, I would like
to see the school grow and evolve while keeping alive our history,
tradition and roots.
